Woodstock 1969
All right, Woodstock wasn't the first memorable festival of the era, that honor goes to Monterey Pop, and wasn't Atlantic City shortly before Woodstock? But let's be honest, Woodstock is the Granddaddy of them all, and as my friend John Nichols says, I was one of the 4 million or more people who claim to have been at Woodstock in 1969, but I actually have photos to prove it.
As a matter of fact, a number of the photos I took at Woodstock are currently featured in Woodstock - Peace, Music & Memories by Brad Littleproud and Joanne Hague, a just released book commemorating the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. Yes, I had to hike in for miles after leaving our vehicle along the road somewhere on the way in, bought two tickets on the walk in from 2 individuals walking out who I am certain already knew it had turned into a free concert (Woodstock Nation my ass), got wet but heard some great music and got some great photos that highlight the magnitude of the crowd and what we had to endure together.
