The Who were one of the top four outstanding, starkly different bands that were part of the original British Invasion in 1964, the others of course being The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks. Loud, brash, devastatingly witty lyrics, a concert by the Who was a breathtaking, energetic spectacle.

I was at Woodstock, and having had to walk in from many miles away, once the Who came on very late on Saturday or early on Sunday, I was in and out of a sleeping state so only remember bits and pieces of songs from Tommy.

I was wide awake at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY in the Summer of 1971 when I next saw them, and it was an incredible show. I managed to sneak my Nikkormat into SPAC, and when the crowd rushed the stage when the Who came on I managed to position myself into one of the first two or three rows where a gentleman was kind enough to share his seat with me for the balance of the Who's set. Probably one of the most intense, loud concert I have ever attended, and I was thrilled to capture it on film.
